WhatsApp QR Code for Your Business
ยท 2 min read
For many small businesses in India, WhatsApp is the front door. A WhatsApp QR code takes a customer from a poster, shop window or packet straight into a chat with you, with no number to save and no typing.
What the code does
When someone scans it, their phone opens WhatsApp with a chat to your number. You can add a pre-filled message such as "Hi, I would like to order the lunch box", so the first message arrives in your inbox already telling you what they want.
Make one
- Open the WhatsApp QR code generator.
- Enter your number with the country code, for example +91.
- Add a short pre-filled message, if you like.
- Pick colours, download the code and print it.
Scan the finished code with your own phone and send a test message before you print.
Ideas for using it
- Orders: on a menu, flyer or packet. "Scan to order on WhatsApp."
- Enquiries: on a hoarding, shop board or vehicle. "Scan for a quote."
- Support: on a product box or warranty card. "Scan for help."
- Appointments: on a salon or clinic desk. "Scan to book a slot."
Use a different pre-filled message for each place, such as "Hi, I saw your poster at the market". Then you know where each enquiry came from.
Keep your own number safe
Anyone who scans the code gets your number, so use a business number rather than a personal one. WhatsApp Business lets you add a catalogue, a greeting and quick replies. Respond within a few hours; a code that sends people to a silent chat does more harm than good.
Static or dynamic?
A static code is free and never expires, and it is right when your number will not change. A dynamic code can also count scans, so you can see which poster or location sends the most chats. See static vs dynamic QR codes for the trade-offs.
Print tips
Make the code at least 2.5 cm wide on small items and much larger on posters. Leave a blank border, and use a dark code on a light background.
